New Duke Energy programs offer Florida customers more choices related to electric vehicles

 

  • Various incentives offered for residential and business customers through the Charger Prep Credit, Off-Peak Charging Credit and Fleet Advisory programs

 

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Today, Duke Energy Florida announced the launch of three new programs – the Charger Prep Credit, Off-Peak Charging Credit and Fleet Advisory programs – to offer both residential and business customers more choices related to electric vehicles (EVs).

WATSON CLINIC PROVIDER MOVES FROM ALLERGY TO INTERNAL MEDICINE DEPARTMENT

 

Lakeland, FL – Suzanne Cooper, APRN, a registered nurse practitioner who has worked alongside Watson Clinic allergy specialist Dr. G. Weyman Price for the past year, has moved to the Internal Medicine practice of Dr. Agustin Tavares from Watson Clinic South at 1033 N. Parkway Frontage Rd. in south Lakeland. 

Ms. Cooper received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Florida Southern College in Lakeland. FL. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Polk County Advanced Practice Nurses Association.

Peace River Center Launches Mental Health Podcast with Southeastern University - BARTOW, Fla., July 24 – Peace River Center (PRC), a licensed and nationally accredited, non-profit provider of behavioral health care and victim services, is producing a mental health podcast to help raise awareness and reduce stigma, provide educational information, and offer resources.


Recorded at and with the assistance of Southeastern University, PRC’s Director of Crisis Services Kirk Fasshauer, LCSW, FT and Director of Children’s Services Tiffani Fritzsche, LMHC, CBHCMS co-host Finding Your Balance: A Mental Health Podcast. The 20-minute episodes explore topics such as the difference between mental health and mental illness, support for those experiencing mental health challenges, and identifying when someone may need professional mental health support.

“We appreciate Southeastern University’s collaboration on this podcast. As our community grows, it is vital to reach new audiences with helpful mental health tips and resources,” said Larry G. Williams, Jr., CEO of Peace River Center.

Episodes of the podcast are intended to reduce the stigma of mental illness while educating audiences about common mental health practices. 

“Though we plan to work with our higher education partners to promote this podcast, the content is useful for anyone seeking to better understand mental health and mental illness,” said Fasshauer.

Episodes are now streaming on PRC’s website, www.peacerivercenter.org/podcast, YouTube channel, and through all major podcast streaming services.

ELC Polk is now accepting applications for VPK! 


VPK is a FREE Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program that enhances children’s learning and prepares them for elementary school. VPK providers near you give children the opportunity of engaging in an early learning education. Here is how to apply for VPK in Polk County.


Important Documentation:

  • Proof of Florida Residence
  • Proof of your child’s age
  • If you are enrolling your child in VPK Specialized Instructional Services (VPK SIS), include an individual educational plan (IEP) from your local school district.

Steps:

  1. Click the Family Portal button on our website
  2. Register to create your account
  3. Fill out an application

What Happens Next:

Once you submit your VPK application, ELC Polk will review the application and email you additional instructions. If your application is approved, you’ll receive a Certificate of Eligibility to take to any VPK provider.
